Joe: I agree. Now that I am more familiar with the candidates, I would pick Kucinich over Obama any day. Obama may be the "least evil" of the media-anointed bunch---while Kucinich and Paul are "good" in my books.

Barack Hussein Obama is the best of the Democrats but that's not saying much.

I am uncomfortable with his war posturing and would be inclined towards Kucinich if he had a chance.

Ron Paul seems interesting as the only anti-war Republican. He is strong on civil liberties and Fox News hates him. He must be doing something right.

I'm not american citizen even if I care for USA. I'm Black muslims born in Senegal (west Africa). I love Bill Clinton (I think the best US president in 4 last decades).
I'll vote Obama if I could for he simple reason that his election could reconciliate USA with world pubblic opinion. I think that the world need America as america need the world if we care for peace and freedom. So the election of Obama could help for that deal then for overcomind hate and antiamericanism around the world. The fact that he claimed against the Iraki war and his cosmoplitan origin could represent an added value for peaceful world. After George W Bush journey I think American people need to give a message of different leadind world based on peace. Obama is the right man at the right moment.

I personally agree with you, that Obama can help this country return to dealing with the real issues at hand, and that his loyalty is to promoting initiatives that can improve the lives of all people, not just a select few. He is a Democrat, but his attitude and approach to how to handle highly controversial topics is something that passes partisan lines. I consider myself to be an independent, and am also of mixed blood, so I am more interested in what a person's beliefs and actions are rather than what political party they belong to. In this day and age, it doesn't seem to be wise to simply vote Republican because you're pro-life or Democrat because you believe in gay rights. They are many good politicians on both sides, but due to media hype and rhetoric, issues are constantly inflamed, and solutions to problems become impossible to be reached. I sincerly hope that Obama does win the election, not because he is a minority, but because he is a good person/leader who happens to be a minority. Americans will quickly see through the rhetoric and hype and those that are trying to stigmatize Obama, since bad publicity about him is going to simply give him free publicity as people try to find out the truth about him.

Now I haven't read his book like you have, but be careful with giving this Obama guy accolades. Well he may have written his own book, but he still copied from the political play book of JFK's Profiles in Courage. Now, I assume you are of libertarian beliefs. So remember this guy is a democrat both in name and heart; which also means that he is a watered down socialist See also that he is a dark horse and that the media has very uncannily taken a liking too him. If you research, this pattern mirrors both Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton's presidential beginnings. Personally I can't say that I like Carter or Clinton, and personally I think there are much better alternatives out there that the media will *not* cover.

Not everyone has fallen in love with his book:
