All my linux dev can be done from an SSH terminal and/or Cygwin-X. I've got a fedora vmware appliance I boot up if I need to do some linux stuff locally. I turn off as much of the eye candy as I can, on any OS. I’d go with a $2000 IBM lenovo X60 convertible tablet with XP, maybe Vista when it’s stable. But maybe the question should be Ubuntu w/Beryl or OSX... This would be hard because basically all the cool stuff OSX does the eye candy Ubuntu w/Beryl does now, and my favorite I can mount via ftp/ssh remote servers and browse the folders. Anyways if I had the money I would probably get a MacBook Pro, but seeing as I don't have $2500 - $3000 I will stick with Ubuntu, It rocks!!
